Marie Sherlock TD is hiring a full time Parliamentary Assistant and a full time Administrative Assistant based in Leinster House.

The Roles
These are exciting roles at the heart of Irish politics. You will work closely with Marie on a wide range of issues, supporting her work on everything from local issues to national policy.
You will be a key member of Marie’s team. These are roles for highly motivated individuals; a problem-solver with great attention to detail; someone who can manage a busy diary and can manage their own time well, a person who has no hesitation in picking up the phone to get to the heart of an issue and crucially a person who shares Labour’s values about improving people’s lives and communities.
Job Descriptions
We are looking for two candidates who can keep Marie’s office focused, organised and on-track to deliver real results for her constituents and for the Labour party.
There are a number of critical tasks for Marie’s team; management of constituency operation, digital organising and political and policy research and advice.
Key duties will include;
- Policy research on issues of local and national importance and preparation for Oireachtas committee hearings, Dáil debates and media appearances. This will include the drafting of briefing notes, speeches and parliamentary questions.
- Digital organising; managing Marie’s social media channels and implementing strategies to promote engagement and content creation.
- Constituency organising: briefing Marie on media, political and community developments. Drafting public communication materials including, but not limited to, constituency newsletters, updates and press releases. Organising and running public events with Marie and the Labour Party in Dublin Central.
- Constituency case work: managing constituency casework; individual and community issues including housing, social welfare, employment, planning and transport.
Preferred Skills and Experience
We’re looking for persons who have some or all of the following attributes:
- Has strong writing and research skills and can work to a tight deadline.
- Has an excellent eye for detail and can summarise complex information.
- Has the capacity to exercise judgement, discretion, and initiative within a politically sensitive environment.
- Has experience of social media content production and is familiar with graphic design tools and video editing software.
- Has good IT skills and an eagerness to learn new systems.
- Feels comfortable and confident dealing with members of the public who need our help.
- Understands the issues facing communities in Dublin Central.
- Believes in building a fairer, more equal Ireland.
Experience is welcome but not essential.
If your application is accepted to the first round, you will be asked to provide written evidence of research or project work that you have previously undertaken or to set out in writing what campaigning experience you have. Please indicate in your initial application what you would be prepared to send on.
Interviews will then be scheduled as part of the second round. These will take place the week beginning January 6th.
Pay
Starting pay is €47,483 for the Parliamentary Assistant role and €40,361.23 for the Administrative Assistant and there is a system of yearly increments. Pay rates are set by the Houses of the Oireachtas and cannot be varied by individual TDs.
