Phoenix Park Gates to Remain Closed After June 8th
Good news for Phoenix Park as six perimeter gates to remain closed after June 8th
The phased re-opening of the park meant that all gates were scheduled to re-open on Monday 8th June. Thankfully the OPW have listened to our calls and the calls of so many over recent weeks to keep all perimeter entrances closed other than the one at Parkgate street and the Castleknock entrance.
This latest decision by the OPW covers the period from June 8th to June 29th and I will be pushing the OPW for it to be made a permanent measure.
For those using the North Circular road entrance, you may have noticed works commencing there in recent days. This is for the cleaning of the railings and pillars and will take approximately two weeks.
Restoration of the masonry work will take place shortly after that and it is then intended to re-hang the old beautiful old gates.
There gates, which date from the 1830’s are currently being restored and it is hoped that this restoration process for the NCR entrance will be completed by the end of the summer.
