Bunscoil Choláiste Mhuire Still Waiting for New School Building

Bunscoil Choláiste Mhuire- shameful that they have been made wait for new school building.

Anyone who has ever engaged with the teachers and pupils of Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuire in Parnell Square will know what a fantastic close-knit school community there is there.

And yet, they have had to put up with a torturous and protracted wait for a new school building for over 10 years and are still a few years away at this stage.

Last Friday I raised this issue with the Government in the Seanad.

It beggars belief that the Department of Education can open schools and have no plan in place to properly provide for children’s education as in the case of Pelletstown Educate Together in D15 or that the Department can move a school into “temporary” accommodation and pay high rents for years on end.

Last week I wrote to the Minister to get answers on the funding and the timeline for the new school. I’ll report back when I get a reply.
